At Macknade, we know that food, nature, and human connection can be powerful tools for change. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new charity partner for the year: Dandelion Time.

Based in Kent, Dandelion Time is a remarkable charity providing nature-based therapeutic support to children and families experiencing significant emotional challenges. These can arise from a range of tough or traumatic experiences, including domestic abuse, neglect, witnessing violence, difficult family breakdowns, or the loss of a loved one.

What makes Dandelion Time so special is its unique approach – combining the healing power of nature and working with the whole family. Therapy doesn’t take place in a traditional setting – instead, families come together outdoors in the peaceful Kent countryside, guided by therapists.

Children and their families take part in calming hands-on activities using materials such as wood, wool and clay, to care for animals and to grow and eat healthy food; thus creating new positive memories.

This in turn helps them to discuss and explore the difficulties they are facing and enables the wider family to come together to build stronger bonds. Children grow in confidence & resilience, and often achieve remarkable results, which lay the foundation for lasting change.

We’re delighted to be supporting Dandelion Time’s life-changing work, and we’ll be sharing more over the coming months about how you can get involved with our fundraising.

In the meantime, you can visit us on July 12th, where we'll be hosting a pop-up with Dandelion Time for you to meet the team and find out more about their work!
