Continue the journey with us as we uncover more outstanding wines from the very best producers across the Iberian Peninsula.

This September, we are visiting regions that are well known to holiday makers for their coastline, but perhaps their wine production is slightly overlooked.

We are going to cover the unfortified wines that come from the Mediterranean coast, stretching from Valencia down past Alicante to Murcia and beyond.

This is mainly territory for big red wines based on the Monastrell (Mourvedre) grape variety; however, considering the heat, there are some surprisingly fine whites also being made from indigenous grape varieties.

There will also be a quick visit to the Balearics before we stop off on the Canary Islands to try wine from the recently rediscovered vineyards of Tenerife, which are now highly fashionable on top restaurant wine lists.
