Jazz & Aperitivo w/ Jo Fooks

"A brilliantly inventive player and composer" - Humphrey Lyttelton

We're thrilled to announce the return of Macknade Jazz for 2025, and we're kicking off our monthly jazz night in style! Saxophonist Jo Fooks will be joined by Paul Eldridge, a pianist renowned for his performances at iconic venues like Claridges and the Ritz.

Jo Fooks, born in Edinburgh, was named Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year in 1992, launching a career that led her to study at the Guildhall School of Music and receive a scholarship to Berklee's summer jazz program. Her career truly soared when she was invited by legendary trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton to join his band, touring across the UK. Her sound—a rich, big, and bright tone—has been compared to the greats like Stan Getz, and she's inspired by the melodic and fun-filled approach of Lyttelton as well as iconic figures like Illinois Jacquet, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, and Cannonball Adderley. Jo's extensive career includes working with top-tier artists like Jo Harrop and Scott Hamilton.

This promises to be a delightful night of jazz, filled with exceptional music and great food and drink. Starting at 7pm you'll be greeted with a complimentary drink on arrival. Throughout the evening, you'll have the opportunity to order from a menu of delicious small plates created by the Macknade kitchen as you enjoy the music. You can check out the menu here!
