Macknade is situated on the second floor of Hoopers, an iconic department store trading for over 40 years in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. We are situated directly opposite the station, only a 10 minute walk from the famous Pantiles shopping area, with parking directly outside. Access to the restaurant is through Hoopers, via the stairs, lift or escalators.

About The Local Area

Situated on the borders of Sussex and the High Weald, Tunbridge Wells offers the perfect mix of town & countryside living. It is home to some fantastic independent shops & restaurants, as well as lively bars & music venues.

You can enjoy a whole host of markets and festivals, which take place throughout the year (we never miss Tom Kerridge’s Pub In The Park!), whilst the surrounding countryside has plenty of pretty villages to explore, including Cranbrook, Benenden and  Goudhurst.

If you prefer historic places, Knole, Scotney Castle and Chiddingstone Castle are just a short drive away and of course, don’t forget the history of Royal Tunbridge Wells itself, when a chance discovery of natural spring waters in 1606, put the town firmly on the map, leading to the development of the picturesque Pantiles – now a popular pedestrianised area.

There’s many reasons why we chose to open our latest venture in Tunbridge Wells, but what really appeals to us is the variety of incredible producers and growers in the region. The Weald is home to beautiful vineyards, hop farms, dairies and orchards and we can’t wait to showcase their products through our dishes and stores, so that you can discover them too!
