Our passionate team create all manner of wonderful dishes, and draw real inspiration from the unique opportunity of having Macknade as their kitchen larder, handpicking the finest ingredients from our on-site butchery, greengrocery and delicatessen.

We also love to showcase our food in the summer months through our outdoor Food Village, offering a variety of food & drink options including our own pizza and burgers, alongside food from our partner street food vendors.


This role is suitable for someone with a love of food and a passion to work within a creative and inspirational kitchen. The successful candidate will be looking to learn new skills and develop themselves further. Previous kitchen experience is essential to be able to support the team through this exciting period.

The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team ensuring a fantastic Macknade experience for our customers and the highest quality food. The principle responsibility will be to ensure an outstanding food product for our customers, under the supervision of the Head Chef. 

The role will include all aspects of the day to day operation of a successful food business working to serve the Café and the Food Village. There will also be a requirement to help in other areas across the Macknade Group as necessary.

We are looking for full and part time positions. Hours of work will vary, with the café open 7 days a week and occasional evenings. The hourly rate starts at £11.00.

Holiday is pro rata with a full-time rate of 28 days including Bank Holidays.

Responsible To: Head Chef

Summary of post: To be responsible for the delivery of outstanding food to all customers at Macknade Faversham.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To be responsible for the preparation and delivery of consistently high quality of food from our kitchen
  1. To support the Head chef in the development of dishes and menus to showcase our outstanding produce and skillset
  1. Ensuring stock and preparation is maintained at sufficient levels to ensure a smooth service period daily and in line with budget.
  1. With the support of the Head Chef follow and deliver the day to day operation of the kitchen and Food Village
  1. To lead in and ensure the Macknade vision, ethos and values are at the heart of the customer experience at every touchpoint.
  1. To participate in the staff support and development scheme and to undertake training based on individual and operational needs.
  1. To comply with legislative requirements, company policies and guidelines in respect to health & safety and data protection ensuring a 5* hygiene rating is achieved
  1. To ensure full stock rotation and storage of products is in line with company policy
  1. To demonstrate positive personal and professional behavior as specified in the Staff Code of Conduct.
  1. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.

Person Specification:

Skills and ability

Ability to work as part of, and occasionally lead a small team to deliver an outstanding product at all times

Effective organisational skills with the ability to successfully deliver in a high pressure environment.

A clear passion to build on the Macknade reputation for offering high quality, value for money and an outstanding experience.

A minimum of 1 year kitchen experience in a similar dynamic and fast paced business.

Detailed knowledge of high quality food and drink

Evidence of continuing education and/or training
