Our Butchery sits within our Food Hall. We pride ourselves on our outstanding meat on offer, and we are proud to be certified as a butcher of 100% pasture fed beef in East Kent and work with several farms in the South East that are certified by the PFLA. This role offers you the opportunity to work in a unique setting, surrounded by fine quality food and drinks with a real emphasis on our values of working farm to block as much as possible.

 

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Butcher with a passion and understanding of fresh produce who is looking to enhance their skills and grow within our business. This is a key position, and you will be working closely with the Butchery team. Preferably, you will have first-hand knowledge of whole carcass butchery, or have excellent knife skills gained from previous experience working as a chef.

The role will include all aspects of the day to day running of a successful butchery as detailed below:

  • Prepare meat from the carcass ensuring the finished product is of an excellent standard and meat displays are of the highest quality.
  • Prepare a variety of products, including sausages to the highest standard.
  • Constantly develop and review products, to ensure that the butchery continues to offer exciting choices for customers.
  • Provide a friendly and informative service by educating our customers on our meat, and ensuring an excellent customer journey

This is a full time role and will include weekends and occasional evening work. Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience.

You will receive 28 days holiday per year (pro rata based on hours) and this includes Bank Holidays.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible To:     Butchery Manager

Summary of post:   To serve our customers with excellent, personable and prompt service.

                                                                                                                           

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide excellent service to our customers, engaging with them throughout their Macknade experience
  • Prepare meat from the carcass and ensure the finished product is of an excellent standard and meat displays are of the highest quality.
  • Undertaking a variety of duties such as prepare a variety of products, including sausages to the highest standard accurately preparing and serving butchery products, Till operation, counter preparation and cleaning duties within the business.
  • To accurately process customer transactions at the point of sale.
  • To maintain the counter presentation to a high standard including stock replenishment and rotation
  • Maintain the butchery HACCP procedures and ensure these are carried out, monitored and recorded correctly throughout the butchery.
  • To actively participate in stock take and staff meeting
  • To participate in staff meetings and undertake training based on individual and operational needs.
  • To comply with legislative requirements, company policies and guidelines in respect to health & safety and data protection.
  • To ensure the Macknade vision, ethos and values are at the heart of the customer experience at every touchpoint
  • To demonstrate positive personal and professional behaviour as specified in the Staff Code of Conduct
  • To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.
