Our butchery department was launched in 2015 and has gone from strength to strength. We are proud to be certified as a butcher of 100% pasture fed beef in East Kent and work with several farms in the South-East that are certified by the PFLA.
Provenance is incredibly important to us and for every cut of meat in our counter, we can tell you the exact animal and the exact farm it’s from. We source from people we know, who we know love their animals, and take real pride in others enjoying their meat. Everything in our butchery is made from scratch, including our sausages, marinades & cures, and our team of butchers draw real inspiration from having Macknade as their larder.
Role & responsibilities
We are on the lookout for a Butcher who shares our passion for provenance and customer service.
Reporting into our Butchery Manager, this is a key position in a small & dynamic team. Previous butchery skills are preferred but not essential, and we would be equally as interested in hearing from someone with excellent knife skills gained from a previous role as a chef or similar.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a fantastic experience for Macknade customers
- Expertly preparing meat from whole carcasses for sale in our counter
- Ensuring meat displays are of the highest quality and there are sufficient levels of product for sale
- Undertaking all butchery administration as required, including waste management & HACCP procedures
