Join our experienced butchers, Simon & Andy, for a pork butchery masterclass on Thursday May 16th, demonstrating a wide range of cuts and giving you plenty of advice on how to cook them.
The pig is an incredibly versatile animal and the focus of the evening will be on everything you can do with pork – from curing ham and bacon, all the way through to the process of making our famous sausages, sausage rolls & homemade porchetta.
The pork itself will be from Snoad Farm – a local supplier, situated just down the road from us on the beautiful North Kent Downs, who we have worked with for a number of years. Here, Julie & David keep a number of rare-breed Oxford & Sandy Black pigs, whose meat is extra succulent & makes for exceptional crackling.
On arrival, you’ll be greeted with a beer from our on-site brewers, Boutilliers, before settling in for the masterclass. For those of you who like to get stuck in, there will be plenty of opportunities to get some hands-on experience under the watchful eyes of our talented butchers!
This demonstration will be followed by a sit-down meal in our butchery, where you can taste our pork in two different recipes. Simon, our Head Butcher, is an ex Michelin Chef and his dishes are to die for, so come hungry!
We’ll be pairing the food with a glass or two of wine and plenty of good conversation, as our butchers will join you for supper to answer any questions you might have and to talk more about our ethos in the butchery.
You will also go home with a pack of ingredients to recreate your favourite of the two recipes in the comfort of your own home.
The event starts at 6.30pm and is priced at £85pp, including VAT, or £80pp for Macknade Cardholders. To take advantage of this special price, simply enter your Macknade card number when prompted (on the reverse of your card, underneath the barcode).
