Help us find the South East’s best Young Cook 2018!
We are excited to announce our support of this year’s Young Cooks competition in partnership with the KM Charity Team.
Young Cooks is a Masterchef style competition for primary & secondary school children in the South East and is all about encouraging young people into the kitchen to explore the abundance of great produce that is at their fingertips.
To enter, all they need to do is prepare a dish that they’ve created, which is tasty, healthy and showcases their cooking skills.
Top marks go to those who cook with local produce or with some of the more unusual ingredients we stock… globe artichokes, kohl rabi, rambutan, the list goes on. We always encourage seasonal eating & love to support local producers, and we also take great pride in our exotic produce & seeing it being used in innovative ways.
Earlier this year, we were invited along to the 2018 launch event, where 2017 winner Charlotte Fife (who is only 15 years old!), headed up the kitchen at the Abbots Barton hotel in Canterbury. Her menu of Pork Loin with Cider Gravy and Gypsy Tart with Cream showcased some of the finest Kentish ingredients… and both dishes could’ve easily come from a professional kitchen!
