We make regular donations to local charities, as soon as we heard about the Grub Club, we were keen to get involved!
You may or may not have heard about the Abbey Physic Community Garden, but it’s a local charity that we greatly admire!
You can find the garden at the old grammar school, opposite Queen Elizabeth’s school. Free to visit, they provide a space to support adults with mental health issues, people who are socially isolated and those who are socially and economically disadvantaged. The garden is a space they grow veggies, flowers, fruits and plants and is a haven for wildlife. It’s also a lovely place to visit and explore!
In fact, the garden does such a good job, that this year they received Level 5 ‘Outstanding’ for the third year from the RHS ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ award scheme!
To make the most of all the produce they grow, the garden launched the Grub Club. Not only does this teach people how to make healthy, cheap meals, they also demonstrate how to use natural alternatives for those with dietary requirements.
We love this idea and jumped at the chance to donate them a larder of ingredients that they couldn’t harvest from the garden.
