Refreshing Our Café

We’re always looking at ways of improving how we work here at Macknade and evolving what we offer.

This year has been no exception and saw us open the Deck outside and introduce our new florist, The Floral Madam. You might also remember some of the changes we made to the café back in the spring of 2016, with a new menu and service style.

Even though it seems like yesterday (we’re all getting old here!), that was over two years ago, so we are due a refresh and have a brand new menu launching next Thursday 22nd November.

New Dishes Coming Soon!

Alongside all the classics that you’ve come to know and love, we’re introducing several new dishes to the menu. This includes an improved ‘On Toast’ section, which gives you the opportunity to mix & match some of your favourite brunch ingredients, including our creamy mushrooms & famous crispy serrano ham, with some new options.

For those of you who love our deli counter, we’ve created a selection of new platters that showcase a wide array of cheese & charcuterie and a brand new Macknade Rarebit… packed full of cheesy goodness! We’re also making our popular FreshToGo range a permanent fixture on the new menu with MightyFine dips, remoulade and coleslaw all featuring.

As always, we’ll have a comprehensive range of daily specials, which draw on our Italian heritage, reflect the seasons and show off some of the more unusual ingredients in the shop.

Time For Table Menus

Perhaps the biggest news of all is our move to table menus! This is something we have been considering for quite some time and is an important change in how the café operates. From the 22ndonwards, you’ll be able to browse the menu from your table, rather than standing up to look at our boards. You’ll still need to order at the counter though, so please make a note of your table number when you sit down.

Ps. Don’t miss those daily changing specials, which are being moved to a more prominent location behind the tills!

A Nip & A Tuck Here & There

We’re also giving the café a little facelift with a new bar being installed in the downstairs area, so we can accommodate more people at busy times. The condiment station will be moving out into the corridor and we’ll be popping a few more tables into the downstairs room. As a finishing touch, we’re also giving the walls a lick of paint, drawing inspiration from our floristry for the colour scheme.

The best part about it… We’re putting in all the hard work behind the scenes, so there’ll be no disruption to service. Just stop by from Thursday onwards to check it out!

This is another big step for the café, which started life as only a handful of tables opposite the deli counter seven years ago. Now it seats over 100 people and remains, as it always has been, a great spot to grab a top notch coffee and a bite to eat with your friends & family.
