Everything you need to know about our Fresh To Go project with MightyFineThings!
We are excited to be working in partnership with local producers MightyFineThings on a fresh and ready to eat range, which is now available in-store.
The project has three specific aims, which are close to both our hearts (and stomachs!), and are in line with our mission to deliver the best experience we can for all of our community.
To create delicious ready to eat dishes that showcase the MightyFineThings range of products and those of other suppliers & producers going forward.
To work closely with these suppliers & producers to use surplus fresh produce to reduce our food waste.
To reduce our dependency on single-use plastic by allowing customers to bring in their own containers to fill with Fresh To Go goodness.
The range includes salads, galettes & dips served from our famous delicatessen counter, as well as a range of dips available from our open fridges.
Much like our Unpackaged dispensers, salads & dips served from our deli counter can be decanted into your own container, or we will charge you 25p to use one of our plastic tubs… So by bringing your own container, you’ll be doing your bit for the environment and saving money at the same time!
We want to make the Fresh To Go range as sustainable as possible, so you might be wondering why these tubs are made of plastic. Unfortunately, our research has found that compostable tubs aren’t actually being composted in Kent at the moment, so until this service is available, we have taken the decision to use a durable plastic tub that can be re-used and recycled instead.
As always, we love hearing your ideas and feedback, so let us know what you think… and keep an eye out as we add to the range!
