Hope Fitzgerald Photography
Our favourite Kent photographer & videographer!
Hope Fitzgerald is a photographer and videographer based right here in Faversham, Kent. She is also the person responsible for all the amazing photography on our website!
We love Hope’s work and were thrilled to have her on board, taking shots for the website, which were also hung on the walls at our Bluewater pop-up and have been used across other promotional literature. Some of our favourites are the ones shot of our staff & customers, which you’ll find peppered across the site.
If you don’t know Hope from around Faversham, you may well have seen her Walk Swale Medway project – a continuous walk of nearly 3 weeks through Swale and Medway, which she shot on her mobile phone and posted to Instagram. The project is currently on display in our café if you want to check it out.
Hope commented, “When Macknade asked me to take photographs for their new website, I couldn’t have been more pleased. It was like visiting a friend. When we moved to Faversham in 2001, the first thing my husband’s parents said was “Have you been to Macknade? It’s amazing!” My husband lived in Faversham and Boughton with his family until the mid 70’s. His parents kept in contact with friends, so they were regular visitors to Faversham, and watched Macknade grow over the years.
They were right about Macknade – it is a treasure trove! I grew up in an Italian-American family in a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood, so finding so many old childhood favourites under one roof was a delight. We are regular customers for specialist things like Rakusens Matzo, Libby’s Pumpkin puree, and gorgeous Italian ‘cold cuts’ from the Deli. My new Sunday tradition includes a walk to the shop for something from the butcher’s counter – Roy always has a good suggestion!”
